Warranty
Every eligible watch purchased from Stalder & Reid is covered by our two-year limited movement warranty.
Your Stalder & Reid warranty is automatically activated from the date of purchase. No separate registration is required.
This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not replace or restrict, your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
Stalder & Reid Two-Year Limited Warranty
All watches sold by Stalder & Reid are brand new and 100% authentic. Where applicable, original serial numbers and case numbers remain intact.
Each watch is checked before dispatch to help ensure that it is supplied in appropriate condition and functioning correctly.
Every watch purchase also includes a Stalder & Reid warranty card and a signed Stalder & Reid Certificate of Authenticity.
What the Warranty Covers
The Stalder & Reid limited warranty provides two years of movement coverage from the date of purchase.
Subject to the terms of this warranty, coverage applies to faults or defects affecting the movement of the watch, including circumstances where a watch:
- abnormally gains time;
- abnormally loses time;
- fails to keep time properly; or
- develops another movement-related fault resulting from a covered defect.
Where a covered movement fault is confirmed, the applicable repair will be carried out without charge for the covered repair itself.
If a covered watch cannot reasonably be repaired, Stalder & Reid may, where appropriate, arrange a suitable replacement or another remedy consistent with the circumstances and your applicable legal rights.
What the Warranty Does Not Cover
This limited warranty does not cover damage or faults resulting from:
- accident, misuse, abuse or negligence;
- improper handling or use;
- impact, crushing, dents or other accidental physical damage;
- broken, cracked, scratched or otherwise damaged crystal;
- damage to the case, crown, pushers or other external components;
- damage, tearing, stretching or deterioration of a strap or bracelet;
- cosmetic damage, scratches or changes in appearance;
- normal wear and tear;
- normal ageing or deterioration of materials;
- routine maintenance or cleaning;
- exposure to chemicals, solvents or other damaging substances;
- unauthorised alteration, dismantling, modification or repair;
- water damage resulting from use inconsistent with the stated water resistance of the watch or from improper use; or
- damage caused by failure to follow the manufacturer's applicable care instructions.
Batteries
Batteries used in quartz watches are consumable components and are not covered by the Stalder & Reid two-year movement warranty where replacement is required as a result of normal battery depletion.
This does not affect your rights where a battery-related issue forms part of a fault that existed when the product was supplied or where your statutory consumer rights otherwise apply.
Water Resistance
Water resistance varies between watches and must only be relied upon to the level specifically stated for the relevant model.
Water damage caused by use beyond the watch's specified water-resistance rating, improper operation of the watch in water or other misuse is not covered by this limited warranty.
Water resistance should not be assumed where a water-resistance rating has not been specifically stated for the watch.
Unauthorised Repairs or Modifications
Any unauthorised repair, alteration, modification or dismantling of the watch may invalidate the Stalder & Reid warranty where the work has caused or contributed to the fault being claimed.
If your watch develops a problem during the warranty period, please contact Stalder & Reid Client Services before allowing a third party to carry out repair work.
Manufacturer Warranty
Some watches may also benefit from a manufacturer warranty where applicable.
Where manufacturer warranty coverage applies to a particular watch, relevant information may be provided with the product or stated on the applicable product page.
The Stalder & Reid warranty and any applicable manufacturer warranty are separate from your statutory consumer rights.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
If you believe your watch has developed a fault covered by this warranty, please contact:
Stalder & Reid Client Services
Email: clientservices@stalderandreid.com
Please provide:
- your order number or other proof of purchase;
- the name or reference of the watch;
- a clear description of the problem; and
- photographs or other information where reasonably requested.
Please do not send your watch before contacting Client Services. We will provide the appropriate instructions and authorised service or return address for your claim.
Sending Your Watch for Warranty Service
Where a watch needs to be returned for assessment or repair, Client Services will confirm the applicable delivery instructions and shipping arrangements before the watch is sent.
We strongly recommend that any watch sent to us or an authorised service location is securely packaged and transported using a tracked and appropriately insured service.
Where applicable law requires Stalder & Reid to bear reasonable return or delivery costs in relation to faulty goods, those statutory rights will apply.
Warranty Assessment and Repair
Once received, the watch may need to be inspected and tested to determine the cause of the reported issue and whether it is covered by this warranty.
Warranty service may involve:
- inspection and diagnosis;
- movement testing;
- ordering required components;
- repair or replacement of covered movement components;
- timing or functional testing following repair; and
- final quality checks before the watch is returned.
Where replacement parts are required for a covered repair, genuine parts will be used where applicable and available.
Repair Times
The time required to complete warranty service varies depending on the nature of the fault, diagnosis, availability of components and the work required.
For this reason, we do not promise a fixed warranty repair time. Client Services will provide updates where appropriate during the process.
Problems on Delivery
Although watches are checked before dispatch, if you notice a problem when your order arrives, please contact Stalder & Reid Client Services as soon as reasonably possible.
Reporting an issue promptly can help us investigate and resolve it more efficiently.
There is no 24-hour or 48-hour reporting condition that removes your statutory consumer rights.
Proof of Purchase
A valid Stalder & Reid order number or other reasonable proof of purchase will normally be required to process a warranty claim.
We recommend retaining your invoice, warranty card and Certificate of Authenticity with your watch documentation.
Your Statutory Rights
The Stalder & Reid two-year limited warranty is a voluntary commercial warranty provided in addition to your legal rights.
Under UK consumer law, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
Depending on the circumstances, consumers may have legal rights to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund where goods do not meet the applicable legal requirements.
Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or replaces your statutory consumer rights.
